I have been fortunate to have spent over thirty years working as a Cabinetmaker. I worked for many diverse artisans and learned by listening, watching and doing. I feel a responsibility to those men and women who taught me to continue their tradition of fine craftsmanship.

ReplyDeleteI loved being your apprentice on this project. Seeing this piece come in damaged by parrots and altered by well meaning woodworkers, I cannot believe the transformation. I have loved learning the "language of wood" and enjoy telling about the process of refinishing. Next time we'll do a video about "extreme furniture restoration" and people can follow us through the process. I know the dad loved having his beloved chest back, and what a great Thanksgiving present by the son.
